View north from Old Mérindol

Aujourd’hui la vue au nord depuis les ruines du château n’a guère changé depuis le 16ème siécle. Pourtant, les incendies récents ont certainement réduit la forêt. Pour le peintre en Provence, reproduire ce relief sur toile, c’est un bon exercice.

Today the view north from the ruined castle probably hasn’t changed much since the 16th century though recent fires have removed many trees. Painting the rugged relief is a good exercise for a painter in Provence.
