La peinture alla prima, ça veut dire capter son sujet dans une seule séance de peinture. Ce n’est pas facile pour moi mais pour celle-ci j’ai réussi. Travailler vite, travailler bien. Il faut aussi savoir s’arrêter, à ne pas trop insister sur une peinture. Sinon elle perd tout sa spontanéité.

Painting Alla prima, that means painting your subject ‘all in one go’. Not easy for me but I succeeded in this one. There’s also something to be said about knowing when to stop – it’s easy to overwork a painting. Work quickly and over the entire format. Quick gestures can lend spontenaity to a painting – always a good thing.
